Passage Tomb

All that remains of the passage tomb at Scregg is the small picturesque chamber perched high on a rocky knoll. It was quite late in the evening when we reached Scregg so we waited around for sunset and were well rewarded. Known as "The Cloghogle" the capstone rests on two long side stones and a backstone, there is a small sill like stone lying across the entrance. Because it is standing on top of this hill it is hard to imagine the way this tomb must have looked originally, all around the hill are large boulders that may have formed a kerb at some time.
